OUR HISTORY
As the majority of firms, IdenCity was born from an idea: if firms can use the theory and practice of strategic planning to be competitive, if they can define objectives and implement actions in order to reach this determined vision, can’t cities use the same instruments to define their identity and commit themselves for a sustainable and competitive development, in the current globalized context?
If this is possible, what factors make a city more competitive than another? What elements determine the local economic development? How can we balance economic growth, social equity and environmental protection?
In order to answer this and many more questions, and, even if I was getting older, I chose to go back to school. At the Wager School of Public Service, at the New York University (NYU), I had the opportunity to collaborate with the department of operational research to respond to my concerns.
Three years later, back from New York with my project in mind, I had the privilege to combine my experience in consulting and firm management with the deep talent for public management and leadership of Jordi Hereu, Mayor of Barcelona from 2006 to 2011. Together, we created a start-up: IdenCity. Together, we selected, and keep selecting, the best consultants and partners to create a multi-skilled, multidisciplinary and international team. Thanks to this, we offer a 360-degree view on urban challenges.
What do we do at IdenCity? IdenCity is a consulting firm that is specialized in the development and implementation of strategic plans for sustainable economic development in urban areas. We have our own methodology which includes innovating creative and participative processes. Our objective: to go far beyond the sector-based consulting firm and be a city consulting firm, able to provide a 360-degree view on urban challenges
At IdenCity, we want to help our clients – leaders, administrations, local and regional governments – to build the story of their city, to reach the strategic position and the privileged identity they want within the current context of intense interurban competition.

Cross-sectional perspective on urban and regional issues
All our consultants have a bachelor´s degree and have experience related to the transformation of cities and territories. More than 90% of them have a Master and/or a PhD in this area.
